Here is an interesting article about PepsiCo converting back to their previous Tropicana brand design. Apparently enough people complained and PepsiCo is listening to their loyal consumers and moving back to their old brand look. I would suggest to all companies to use this as an example. If your brand isn’t broke, then don’t try and fix it. Change your brand over time, not over night.

What a complete douche bag. He hasn’t even won a game yet and his trickery and deceit is just amazing. His actions have taught an 18 year old impressionable kid to lie and be dishonest. Way to go Kiffin, I can’t wait to see what kind of program your Tennessee Volunteers are going to become under your tutelage. Gators soak the Noles.

The last five years have been a bit of pay back for my former high school years. As a kid I was raised a Gator fan and during my high school years I always was reminded how the University of Florida was the third best college football program in the state. The “U” or Free Shoes University were always the ones battling it out for the National Championship and Florida was always left winning the SEC championship and hopefully a Sugar Bowl appearance. Well, now it feels good to know that the tables have turned and now Florida is now the best college football program in the state and possibly the nation. I know that The University of Miami and FSU will regain national prominence in the next few years, but right now it feels GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR.

Things to be thankful for.

Well it’s Thanksgiving Day and while I’m sitting here waiting for the turkey to come out of the oven, I’ve got sometime to think about what I am truly thankful for. To begin, I’ve very thankful for my family. They have always been there to support me whenever I’ve needed a shoulder to lean on, or a hand to pick me up off the ground. I love my family and will always be there for them, just like they’ve always been there for me. The next thing I’m thankful for is my health. Last month I turned 33 and so far, other than an ACL surgery a few years back, I’m pretty healthy and is a good reason to be thankful.

Next, are my close friends. I am so thankful that I have friends who are there for me whenever I need some help. Especially this last month or so. Thank you guys for always being there to help me when I’m down or need some help. Thats what true friends are for and I will always be there to return the favor whenever they need me. Finally, I really am thankful that in this down economy I am still fortunate enough to be working for a very successful company, who values their employees and believes that we are all one big, happy family. Now, while you are waiting for your family to come over, or the turkey to finish cooking, I urge you to take a moment and remember the things that you are truly thankful for. I know it’s been some time since I last wrote on my blog. You might call it work overload, a stressful personal life or just not having to much to say these days. Walmart gets a new face lift.

If you haven’t heard the news, Walmart has rebranded themselves to promote a much more friendlier and softer side of their brand. For years WAL-MART has been viewed as a massive corporation that overwhelms neighborhoods and causes local business to close their doors. After years of this militant perception how easy is it to change your brand?

Well there are many reasons why companies rebrand themselves, but I believe that Walmart is trying to refresh consumers, increase their loyalty and re-energize their company. The New York design firm, Lippincott decided for the first time in WAL-MART’s history that they would stop using all caps and try using a lower case san serif. The reason they made that change was to give the wordmark a more humanistic and approachable feeling. The next change they made was making the blue lighter and warmer, moving away from the dark, cold navy blue they’ve used for the last sixteen years. Finally they removed the star/hyphen which actually resembles the original WALMART wordmark.

Instead they moved the star to the end and turned it into a more iconic symbol. And this is where a majority of my problems lie with their re-branding. This iconic looking star does nothing for me, is it six pieces of corn, a pharamucitcal pill pack? Or just away to soften the original star and give them an own-able mark that can be used in the same way that Target uses their icon? Whatever the reason, I feel that this was a lackluster attempt at trying to give Walmart a fresh new look for a new generation. I’ve shared my viewpoint, now please let me know what your thoughts about the new brand. Is it a success or a failure?

I started running again today and I have to tell you that I didn’t realize how much I truly missed it. Lately things have been pretty busy with work, relationships and traveling. It was really nice to get back into exercising and losing myself to the world of Metallica. My biggest concern with running was how it was going to effect my rehabbed knee. Tonight I ran with no pain in my knees and completing two and a half miles felt great. The addiction is back and I’m going to continue each run increasing my distance until I reach my goal of ten miles in a single run. Push adds another national account into the pot.

It looks like we’re starting to rack up the national accounts here at Push. The Melting Pot has added Push as their creative agency of record today. We will be responsible for the advertising, design, branding and interactive for all of the Melting Pots 133 restaurants around the country.
